At its core, glamping is actually camping, it’s just being comfortable at the same time. It is meant for those of us who work long hours stuck inside and long for the warm weather and the ability to be outside, but enjoy the comforts of home, like a nice chair and a comfortable bed.

There are many ways to glamp. Whether it be in a yurt, a treehouse, a teepee or a camper, the main goal is to get out and explore nature while remaining as comfortable as possible.

Upholster your camp chairs

While regular folding camping chairs are fairly comfortable, they just don’t look like it. An easy fix is to cover it with fabric, you can even add a throw blanket to complete the look.

To create your own chair cover, simply cut and pin the fabric of your choice so it covers the chair. Then all you need do is take it off the chair and sew where you have pinned. Turn the cover inside out so the seams are on the inside and you’re all set!

Invest in a bell tent

While this type of tent is typically more expensive than the average everyday tent, it should also last you a lot longer and is worth it in the long run to have the perfect glamping experience.

If you really just can’t spend a lot of money right now, a large family-size tent should be fine.

Tent accessories

To truly get the full experience, you need a warm glow of lights. Fairy lights, table lamps, rope lighting, whatever you can find. If there is no power source available, look for these in battery-operated options.

A rug inside your tent will give it a more cozy, homey feel, in addition to helping ensure the shoes stay outside of the tent! You may want to even add a boot tray or welcome mat outside the door as a place to keep shoes out of the way.

While it is not entirely necessary, a little bunting can go a long way in transforming the look of your site. Hang a little over the entrance to your tent and give your glamping site a bit of a girly feel.

Glamping needs a real bed

Some people choose to bring a real mattress that you can roll up to bring with you. If this is not an option for you, an air mattress is fine. Add a mattress topper and lots of blankets, or even a duvet, to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.

What bed is complete without a lot of pillows? Bring as many as you want, after all, this is all about being comfortable!

Dining out

Jam jars are such a popular option for glasses now, and since they are available in every store with tops, there is no reason not to bring these beauties along. Ditch the plastic cups and drink from a real glass. Bring an extra few along to fill with flowers when you get there.

Looking for extra light? Clean out your tin cans and punch holes in them. Put a candle inside and now you have an instant lantern.

Make sure to use real plates and silverware, and put it all on top of a real cloth tablecloth.

Hang out in style

Hang up a tarp or old sheet, string some lights and set a rug down to create an outdoor living room. Cover your camp chairs in blankets and cushions, hang a wind chime and you’re ready to glamp in style!
