Drug stores are convenient. Many people rely on them to fill prescriptions. If you’re inside, you might tempted to grab a few things on the way out. Save money by purchasing certain things elsewhere.
Beach chairs
If you’re at the beach, the nearest store is likely to be a drug store. Drug stores near popular public beaches typically stock all sorts of things you might need to get on the sand and relax. Beach chairs are a must for many people when on vacation. The initial cost might be lower. However, the quality is also likely to be a lot lower. Get them from your local store instead and bring them with you.
Diapers
Babies need diapers. But they’re likely to be very costly at your local drug store. Buy them only if you’re in desperate need right now. Otherwise, it pays to look elsewhere and stock up.
Milk
Milk is a good addition to any diet. It’s full of vitamins and calcium. Many recipes call for milk as a liquid to help bind other ingredients. Many drug stores stock milk in a refrigerated case. For the most part, you are far better off buying milk somewhere else. That’s in part because the milk you find at a drug store tends to linger on the shelves for a longer period. The longer the milk the remains on the shelf, the more likely it is to go bad when you bring it home. Check expiration dates carefully before you do anything else.
Makeup and sunscreen
A few lipsticks and some bright nail polish are an ideal thing to have on hand when you’re having fun on the town. Many drug stores have gotten into the makeup business. You’ll likely see aisles of tempting products to take with you. Think twice before you grab that eyeliner or the glittering nail polish. You’re probably going to find much higher quality items at your beauty store chain. You’ll also find better prices on makeup at many of the largest national department stores.
Supplements and vitamins
Supplements and vitamins can be of great use if you are experiencing temporary deficits. A doctor may recommend vitamins if you’re not getting enough because of an ongoing medical condition. Many drug stores offer such supplements but they might be of the best quality or price. Now is the time to shop around and see what you find. Do a quick comparison and see if the prices are better somewhere else or even online.
Toilet paper
Toilet paper is one of those things you don’t want to run out of at any point. If you’re making a mad dash to the store, it may be tempting to grab lots of rolls. However, chances are you’re better off buying that paper in another place. Many drug stores only have branded toilet paper. That kind of paper tends to be a lot more expensive than the stuff you can buy in bulk at your warehouse store or even the local supermarket.
