You can make your backyard an oasis of tranquility. If you just have a bunch of boring grass, it’s time to turn it into a beautiful garden. We’ve got your guide to changing your backyard into a high-level garden area.

You can start by planting all kinds of vegetables. Many people love growing their own food. You know it’s fresh and organic. It’s simple and healthy.

It’s important your garden gets enough sunlight. You also need to make sure you have adequate watering tools for it. You will need to weed your garden area on a weekly basis. If you think rabbits or rats will get into your garden area to eat your veggies, create a secure barrier.

It’s a great addition to many gardens to put in herbs and flowers. You can use herbs for tea. You can use flowers for decoration, or dry them for bath products. The best thing about herbs and flowers is they do not require as much work as vegetables. They do require a lot of sunshine to grow.

It’s a fun addition to grow fruits. You can enjoy organic, fresh fruit as well as turn them into sauces and jelly. You can even plant dwarf plants. You should research which flowers grow best in your area of the world. Planting trees could take years for them to grow, but it’s always interesting to watch them through the years.

If you want to push your garden to be it’s very best, it is a good idea to add chickens or hens. This way you will get those “farm fresh” eggs. Check your local laws to ensure you can have these types of animals. Chickens can be crazy if they run free in your garden so always keep a watch on them. Taking care of a flock of chickens can be tough, but worth every minute.

It’s a good idea to create a garden compost pile. You can save leftover food, hen droppings, waste, and dry leaves to create your pile. This enhances your garden. Make sure to close the compost bin lid if you start to get unwanted pests around it.

Composting is only one way you can help the environment while gardening at the same time. You can hang a dryer line in your backyard to line dry your clothing. You get to save energy from your dryer, and have fresh clothes at the same time. Make sure you have the proper space to hang this type of line.

You can also collect rainwater with a runoff bin. This way you will always have extra water for the garden. Place a rain barrel or tan under your gutter to gather this water. You might want to place a mesh screen over it so mosquitoes do not make their way into the standing water.

A garden is the perfect way to spruce up your backyard. You get fresh fruits and veggies, enjoy beautiful flowers and have a project that is all yours. You can create many things from this oasis. Have fun with it, and get the whole family involved. A garden is the perfect little area that you can travel to for some peace and quiet in the crazy world.
